"How I wish we had detected sooner!" This is all that is left once you've lost your loved one to Cancer. To lose someone close can alter your life forever. My fundraiser is in memory of every life lost to the gruesome ordeal of Cancer. Cancer is a devastating disease, but it is not unbeatable. Early detection and treatment play a pivotal role in it. Cancer is also not a rich man's disease, and the cost of treatment can be draining. The Indian Cancer Society (ICS) is doing a phenomenal job of creating nationwide awareness of cancer, its risk factors, preventive measures, encouraging regular checkups, treatment options and survivorship. The early detection camps are carried out through cancer detection centers and mobile cancer detection camps across India, especially for the underprivileged. ICS is instrumental in providing funds for the treatment of cancer for poor cancer patients. Additionally, ICS provides support during and after treatment to poor cancer patients through accommodation, rehabilitation, and survivor support groups. I've hence signed up with the Indian Cancer Society as their Change Maker Runner, to raise funds towards the great work they're doing.
