Urban Health Resource Centre (UHRC) utilises resources raised through donations in foundational human capacity building. UHRC's social facilitators work on a sustained basis with basti women's groups, children-youth groups and community to strengthen, deepens self-confidence, build self-esteem. UHRC also steadily works towards developing self-reliance through knowledge of health, nutrition, infection prevention, understanding of government services, schemes of different govt. departments and how these can be availed. This non-perishable competence among the underprivileged communities to steadily improve their lives.Basti women's groups and children-youth groups learn how to write, submit (with a proof of receipt) community requests/petitions, reminders, keep paper trail thereby acquiring gentle negotiation skills and tact. All these form the non-perishable competence which grows with effort and time among women's groups and children-youth groups across 425,000 slum/vulnerable populations in Indore and Agra. Through these skills basti communities are able to pull services such as healthcare, vaccination, care of pregnant women, paved streets, drains, electricity connections, water supply, sewerage system to bastis benefitting the larger community beyond UHRC's program area.

About Me
A physician, I utilise medical experience & broader understanding of human life to improve wellbeing of urban deprived labour at low wages to build 'smart cities'.Initially adapted medical knowledge to simple actions which prevent disease, build immunity, nutrition. Learning from disadvantaged communities it was clear that broader determinants of health & well-being need efforts to help those less fortunate than us. UHRC, set-up in 2005 received support from a bilateral source till mid-2009 and was left for us to sustain or shut aspirations of over 400,000 people. Since then UHRC raises funds to deepen confidence, self-reliance through building non-perishable competence of women's & children-youth groups in 450,000 vulnerable populations
