Global warming, education, women empowerment; these are all well-known issues that have a well developed support system. Child Sexual Abuse, on the other hand, is an issue that is barely discussed, barely supported and barely even reported! It is not that this issue is any less widespread than global warming for example, but it is the stigma associated with this injustice that prevents people from openly speaking about it; and I want to change that. I know for a fact that no person, regardless of their background or actions deserves to be haunted by traumatic memories of their childhood. No child deserves to be robbed of their innocence, their joy, their ability to trust and ability to appreciate the little things. Hence, I have chosen to raise funds for 'the HEAL Foundation', an NGO that helps reduce child sexual abuse by conducting awareness workshops for both children and parents, providing victims of the crime with required therapy and spreading awareness about one of the worst crimes ever to be committed, one that sadly, more often than not goes unacknowledged.
