VConnect Foundation is a parent support group for children experiencing hearing loss. It is a supportive network of over 1300 parents of children committed to using ‘Listening and Spoken Language’ to communicate. It is a charitable organization founded in 2007 by two parents of children with hearing loss who are also professionals in the field. The Vision and Mission is to mainstream children with hearing loss by providing hope and empowerment to their parents and primary caregivers and co-creating an educational ecosystem that fosters a culture of inclusiveness. VConnect achieves its purpose by creating platforms and networks, both real and virtual, to help connect parents with experts, device companies, agencies, centres, clinics and educational institutions, as well as provide forums for parents and children to interact and draw support. This is possible through a dedicated team of parents and professionals all working towards this common cause. The main areas of focus for VConnect are to 1) EDUCATION – to integrate children into mainstream schools successfully 2) MENTAL HEALTH – to build positive mental health for children with hearing loss and their caregivers 3) KNOWLEDGE HUB - to disseminate knowledge to caregivers and professionals for the holistic development of the child 4) ADVOCACY - to advocate the need for an inclusive ecosystem VConnect's target population are parents, primary caregivers, and the surrounding ecosystem of children with hearing loss.
