United Way Mumbai is part of the 130+ year old United Way movement spread across 1200 communities and 40 countries across the world. As the world's largest privately-funded non-profit, United Way is a vehicle for change, connecting people with the causes that are most important to them. In India, United Way has been in existence for over 30 years and has chapters based out of 7 states.

United Way Mumbai has been in operation for 22 years. We are committed to the cause of community development while abiding by the strictest codes of accountability and transparency. Governed by a Board of Trustees, which closely monitors and regulates our fund allocation & management processes, we ensure that we maintain a high degree of accountability.

United Way Mumbai is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. Donations from India to United Way Mumbai are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. We are authorized to receive foreign donations under the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act. United Way Mumbai is also registered with the Govt. of India's NITI Aayog (MH/2017/0155813) and has been recognised as a Credible Implementing Agency by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IA Hub Code: A000338). We are registered as a CSR Implementing Agency with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Registration No.: CSR00000762) and are amongst the first NGOs to be registered on the BSE Social Stock Exchange

United Way Mumbai has also been certified as a Great Place to Work organisation for 5 consecutive years and awarded recognitions for Best NGOs to work for and Best Workplaces for Women.
