Tree plantation drive at Maharashtra Nature Park, 2014

United Way Mumbai adopted 4.5 acres of barren land at Maharashtra Nature Park to reclaim and convert into a Green strip. One of the activities conducted was a Tree Plantation Drive.

PROJECT DETAILS

Maharashtra Nature Park (MNP) is spread over a vast area of 37 acres and is located on the southern bank of Mithi River. About 20 years ago, it was nothing more than a garbage dumping ground. In due course, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) decided to restore this part of Mumbai and develop it as a Nature Park. The intent was to build a complete ecosystem with adequate flora and fauna to ensure a self-sustaining cycle of life right in the middle of the hustle bustle of the city.

United Way Mumbai's initiative involved transforming this barren patch of land into a green strip by planting 500 trees.
