United Way Mumbai and Accenture supported Mahita to implement the program "Free the Children from Work - Education through Empowerment". The project aimed at creating educational opportunities for the working and deprived children from urban slum areas of Rajendernagar Mandal of Ranga Reddy District. The project also addressed the need to improve educational status of the children through remedial classes for keeping up retention rates in schools. The beneficiaries were drawn from working and non-school going children in the age group of 6-12 years. The program resulted in successful functioning of 5 Educational Centers being supported, development of minimum levels of learning among 453 children as well as preparation of close to 100 children to pursue higher education through remedial classes.
