Ummeed is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2001 with the vision of helping children with and at risk of disabilities reach their full potential and be included in society. We work to enable participation and inclusion of children and families with diverse conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, intellectual disability, learning disability, and more, using the biopsychosocial and family-centered care approach.

Our key areas of work include:
• Clinical services (diagnosis and therapy) for children with developmental disabilities and their families,
• Training, and capacity building (in individuals such as doctors, therapists, teachers, community workers and organizations such as schools, community-based organizations, etc.),
• Research (relevant to the field of child development and disabilities), and
• Awareness and advocacy (to change attitudes towards inclusion)

Till date, Ummeed has supported over 14,500 children directly through almost 1,35,000 sessions. Through our training programs, we have reached 4.3 lakh children indirectly.
There are over 50 million children in India with developmental disabilities, and therefore it is critical that Ummeed continues to reach as many children as possible.

Appeal

1 in 8 children in India in the age group of 2–9 years have or are at risk of developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, and others. This translates to over 50 million children with or at risk of disabilities in India. Out of these, not even a quarter have access to quality care.

Since its inception, Ummeed has provided 1,35,000+ direct clinical services to more than 14,500 children and families at its center and trained 7,000 professionals (doctors, therapists, teachers, and community workers) and over 3000 caregivers from all over India and several low-income countries. Ummeed has reached over 4,30,000 children through these trainings.

Over 80 % of children and families served annually are from low-income backgrounds and receive significant fee concessions. All trainings conducted by Ummeed are free of cost.

As a not-for-profit organization, Ummeed relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and organizations. Your donation would make a world of difference. We look forward to your support!

The funds raised through Tata Mumbai Marathon will be used to support Ummeed's clinical work, training efforts, advocacy and research work, administration costs, shared services-related costs, and IT implementation costs.
