Screening camps are a regular feature in Mumbai. In the last decade rehabilitation of cancer victors has taken a major thrust at the Mumbai centre. They make cloth, jute bags in full swing and they come in different sizes, colors & specifications
Ann-Vasantham, ????-????? is a new project was launched on 4th Dec 23 and already has a successful run for one month! we have established a modern kitchen which serves 100 packets of breakfast & lunch to the cancer patients & their care givers taking treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital
Appeal
At the day care centre patients receive chemotherapy from 8.00 am onwards. Generally, only caregiver is allowed. While the patients receive hygienic food from the hospital the attenders have to rush and grab a bite from any of the food carts near the Hospital. Even this short gap hurts the patients as patients do not want the attenders to leave them even for a second.
We realized this during our work in the last 20 years and envisaged a plan so that attenders need not leave the patient and at the same time receive good food .The Ann-Vasantham idea was born then. We now started providing breakfast and lunch for the attenders of 100 patients from 4th Dec’23 and the response indeed overwhelming.
We have now fixed an empirical amount of Rs.5000/- for breakfast and Rs.7500/- for lunch but the actual cost is much higher Rs.6000/- for breakfast and Rs.8000/- for lunch. We do not wish to increase the cost to the donors & keep the price as it is. Secondly the plan to raise to 200 numbers is also pushing us to find more resources. Funds will be utilized for continued feeding of care givers.
