COTAAP Research Foundation is a Not for Profit body that works with Cotton farmers. COTAAP works towards helping farmers increase the productivity of their cotton crop and thereby positively impacting their livelihoods. India is the largest producer and second largest exporter and consumer of Cotton in the world. However India has one of the lowest per hectare farm yield and this where COTAAP’s efforts are targeted. COTAAP helps farmers by introducing them to advanced and new technologies in farming, creating a farmer network and giving them inputs and implements at nominal prices.
In addition to our work with Cotton farmers, we are also involved in Generic Cotton Promotion Program. Natural fibre cotton has some inherent advantages due to its unique fibre structure making it one of the most comfortable fibres to wear. Cotton is however losing market share to artificial fibres.
COTAAP runs generic cotton promotion programs to promote the unique benefits of Cotton. We run these programs on different platforms like, Social Media, Radio, Events (online and on ground etc.) and we are open to new ideas and initiatives for Cotton Promotion.

Fund Utilization in 2024

Total funds raised in 2024 - INR 2000000
Project NameSoil and Water Conservation Project
Amount Utilized (INR)1934000
Project DescriptionThis project was executed for the farmers in Yavatmal and Waigaon (Wardha district). In these region the rain water would drain with it the top nutrient layer of the soil. Also the water would run out of the farms and eventually get wasted. COTAAP Research Foundation built bunds, trenches and recharge pits at strategic locations in the farms. This ensured that the water was routed into the trenches and the recharge pits. The water from the recharge pits was available for farmers for irrigation and also as drinking water for months after the monsoon season. The water in the trenches percolated into the earth and helped increase the ground water table. The nutrient top layer of the soil was retained in the farm land ensuring better yield for the farmers.

Fund Utilization in 2023

Total funds raised in 2023 - INR 2084251
Project NameSoil and Water Conservation Project
Amount Utilized (INR)2084251
Project DescriptionSoil and Water Conservation project helped farmers in Yavatmal and Wardha district to conserve the top most fertile soil. This soil otherwise runs away from the farm lands in the monsoons making the land arid. Additionally rain water also runs away in the monsoons and gets wasted. This project ensures that the top fertile soil stays in the farm and rain water is also stored in specially created and dug pits. Retaining the water in these pits helps availability of this water to farmers way past monsoons and also helps increase the ground water table of the land.
LocationsYavatmal > Maharashtra (MH),Wardha > Maharashtra (MH)
