Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter (TSPC) was founded by the parents of Thalassemia Major Children in 1991. The poor state of welfare of people with Thalassemia, unmet needs such as shortages of blood for transfusion, delays in the adoption of advanced management procedures such as chelation therapy made a few conscientious parents come together to form a society for the benefit of those who were affected by the disease; especially families and children from lower socioeconomic strata of the society.
Area of Intervention:
- Care : Provide expertise of treatments involving different medical modalities to improve quality of life
- Cure : Provide access to medical expertise and financial resources for Bone Marrow Transplants
- Curb : Create awareness to prevent Thalassemia births by conducting widespread screening

Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter (TSPC) intend to use these funds for Care & Curb Initiatives.
For Care : We plan to provide free-of-cost day care, serving as a comprehensive one-stop service including Blood, Iron Chelation Medicines, Leukocyte Reduction Filters, Health Checkup. Our goal is to sponsor 50 Thalassemia Major warriors which cost us Rs. 50,00,000 per year
For Curb : We plan to drive health screening camps at a nominal cost . The screening includes CBC, HBA2, Sugar, and Reflex molecular testing. This will help to know Thalassemia Carriers and counselling to be done to curb Thalassemia Major Births. Our goal is to do 5000 screening in 12 month which cost us Rs.25,00,000.
