Appeal
GTT Foundation has decided to join hands with United Way Mumbai to support the Tata Marathon 2025. In this context, we urge you to participate in the run with a sponsorship for GTT Foundation’s Employability programme and seek your support for raising the fund for a better society through economic outcomes.
Since 2012, GTTF has been leveraging technology to bridge the skills gap and create opportunities for marginalized populations, enabling them to participate fully in the Indian economy. We have partnered with Global Corporations, Universities, Colleges and Government bodies to enable 350,000+ individuals become employable using innovative technologies and compelling content. Our programs are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - 1, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 17 empowering citizens and fostering a more equitable and sustainable future.
The sponsorship for the run we are seeking is aimed at supporting two categories of individuals from the marginalized segment of the society:
1. WeChimni: Women with primary responsibility to support their families
2. Equirise: Transgender keen to lead lives with dignity
1. WeChimni
GTT Foundation has enabled over 10,000 women from the marginalized communities to acquire life skills and domain skills and helped them find suitable job opportunities. 45% of these women are in the age group of 30-40 years, are married with children. Majority of these women their have never stepped out of their homes to take up income generating work or have had irregular daily jobs with little or no predictability of their earnings. Most of them are school dropouts, being unable to pursue education due to financial difficulties and marriage at an early age. It is estimated that as per a 2018 International Labor Organization (ILO) report, about 82 percent of the total number of working women in India are concentrated in the informal sector, working in fields such as domestic work, home-based work, waste picking, construction, street vending. We envision a future where women in Maharashtra have equal opportunities to thrive in the workplace. By providing targeted training and mentorship, we will help them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their chosen fields.
2. Equirise
GTT Foundation has so far enabled 537 transgender individuals (23-24) with skill development leading to successful livelihoods in different professions. India, a nation known for its diversity and cultural richness, is making strides towards LGBTQIA+ equality. While significant legal progress has been made, the community continues to face barriers in securing equal opportunities, particularly in the realm of employment and entrepreneurship. Despite these challenges, the LGBTQIA+ community in India demonstrates immense entrepreneurial potential. The LGBTQIA+ community often confronts societal prejudices, discrimination, and limited access to resources that hinder their economic progress. Through this project, we aspire to provide a platform where individuals can not only overcome these challenges but also thrive by channeling their creativity, skills, and aspirations into sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.
In the pursuit of fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities, our project endeavors to address the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community in India through the lens of entrepreneurship and self-employability. Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship and Self-Employability, this initiative aims to create a supportive ecosystem that encourages economic independence, dismantles discriminatory barriers, and propels members of the LGBTQIA+ community towards entrepreneurial success. Empowering the LGBTQIA+ across the outlined cities in India through enhancing entrepreneurial capabilities. Our initiatives aim to address this critical gap by empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals in India through entrepreneurship and self-employability initiatives. We have so far enabled 3447 persons with disabilities (20-24) and 537 Transgender (23-24) to find their aspirational jobs and continue to work in this domain.
We look forward to your active support to GTT Foundation’s initiatives that would bring about transformational change in the society.
