Project Description | Sterilization of strays is a cause that is very close to our heart. At KAT we believe in giving back to the community we live in by ensuring the safety and health of the villagers which include many children. We hold weekly Sterilization camps that are conducted in our in-house clinic by our visiting Vet. The animals are picked up a day before in close co-ordination with the feeder or caretaker and post surgery kept in the Recovery Room . A day later they are released back to their area. The funds collected were used to pay for the vet fees and surgery expenses.

Impact | Neutering animals can have several positive impacts on humans and communities. Here are some key points: Community Benefits Reduced Overpopulation: Neutering helps control the population of stray and unwanted animals, decreasing the number of animals that end up in shelters and reducing euthanasia rates. Lower Animal Control Costs: With fewer stray animals, municipalities can save on costs related to animal control, sheltering, and care, allowing resources to be redirected to other community needs. Safer Environments: Fewer stray animals can lead to a decrease in incidents of bites or attacks, contributing to safer neighborhoods. Enhanced Public Health: Neutered animals are less likely to roam, reducing the chances of spreading diseases among animal populations and to humans.

Project Description | Project : Sterilization of stray Dogs and Cats The only possible way to put a stop to the ever-increasing population of stray dogs and cats is by sterilizing them so that they will not produce more offspring. Furthermore, male dogs can start procreating as early as 6 months and can sire unlimited litters. Only 20 percent of puppies in India make it to their first birthday. Spay and neutering street dogs is the most humane way to stabilize stray animal populations. Neutering brings down general aggression. Also, once the males are neutered, they have no urge to wander far, and they “settle down†at a place and treat it as “homeâ€. As a result, they prevent new dogs from entering.

Beneficiary Description | We held 36 Sterilization camps at our shelter's clinic . A total of 325 dogs and 35 stray cats were neutered and spayed and thereafter returned to their "area" after recovery. Surgeries were performed by our Shelter Vet Dr Aditya Jha and assisted by Mrs Kirti Patial and our staff members. The ages of the animals ranged from 6 months to 10 years.
Impact | Sterilisation programmes are an effective tool for controlling street dog populations. High densities of free roaming or street dogs increases the risk of human dog bites, zoonotic disease transmission, and poorer animal welfare .
