Green the Blue Charitable Trust: Empowering Communities for a Greener Future

Green the Blue Charitable Trust is committed to environmental education, youth empowerment, and innovative teaching. Our mission is to equip students, youth, and communities with the tools to combat climate change and promote sustainability.

Our key initiatives include the LEAF Program (Leaders in Environmental Action Force), which has trained over 2,200 students in environmental leadership, and the Green Teachers Program (GTP), which has equipped 300+ teachers across 68 schools with innovative environmental education methods. Through our Environment Awareness Program, we’ve engaged 13,000 individuals in Gujarat, raising environmental consciousness at the grassroots level.

Ongoing efforts include the Tarpart Program on Warli art, Community Learning Centres in 10 villages to bridge pandemic-induced learning gaps, and Youth Skill Development initiatives. We also manage 7 Qissa Pitara Children's Libraries in Gujarat, fostering a love for reading.

Launching on August 15, our 'Greening the Red' program will facilitate tree plantation via a digital platform, allowing donors to contribute saplings, which will be planted by local communities. Join us in creating a sustainable future.

Appeal

The ‘Greening the Red’ initiative seeks to inspire urban residents to gift trees, bridging donors with stakeholders. This project empowers farmers and rural communities, who bear the brunt of climate change, to plant the desired saplings on their farms, village lands, or sacred groves. We also encourage children in both rural and urban schools, as well as college students, to participate in this tree-planting initiative. To make tree gifting affordable and accessible for everyone, we have turned to technological solutions.
Another salient feature of this platform is our work does not stop with planting; we pledge to give handholding support to the farmers, village community and eco-club members to care for the saplings planted at least for two years. In schools, planting will be accompanied with activity-based ecological education. This will ensure the success of the program.
Today, we face numerous challenges, both individually and collectively. Global warming and climate change affect us all. Despite the enormity of the problem, the solutions can be surprisingly simple and plausible. Planting a tree does not require rocket science; it can be done at the click of a button. This is the convenience we offer through our portal.
Join us in ‘Greening the Red’ and contribute to a healthier planet for all.

Fund Utilization in 2023

Total funds raised in 2023 - INR 40650
Project NameCommunity Learning Centres
Amount Utilized (INR)40650
Project DescriptionDuring the Coronavirus pandemic, when the schools were shut, our animators visited the remote villages in South Gujarat, organized the children and conducted environmental education programs. These activities were the only learning platform for the children in some of the villages where we work. In order the bridge the learning gap, we initiated CLC in ten villages.
The project team with the help of teaching volunteers and others successfully set up ten Community Learning Centres. Through CLC, the teaching volunteers have reached out to more than 1185 children during the 15 months of the project duration. The teaching volunteers focused on the foundation skills such as reading & writing. Later, through innovative activities, they were able to make children understand basic scientific, environmental and mathematical concepts.
