Salaam Baalak Trust was set up in 1989. It was inspired by the unique spirit of the street children in Mira Nair's acclaimed debut feature film Salaam Bombay!
Salaam Baalak Trust is an integrated programme to provide individual tailor-made plans for the street children, to allow for their optimal, holistic development so that they become responsible, contributing members of society. This is done through our Centres at Chowpatty, Andheri, Kandivali and Malad and our 8 Contact points. The programmes cover Shelter, Education, Nutrition, Health Care, Life Skills and Vocational Training.

Appeal

With India's population being over 1.2 billion (Census of India, 2011), India has the dubious distinction of having the largest population of street children in the world.

The beneficiaries served being vulnerable groups of street children, all efforts to provide support/relief are centred around their care, with values of respect and choice for their rights at its core. The care is effected in close proximity to various vulnerable children groups; providing psycho-social support, building food security, educational support, healthcare, and other related well-being initiatives.

Your contribution will go towards operational expenses of our Centres such as nutrition, clothing, health care & hygiene and education. You will give these vulnerable children a chance at a better life!
