VConnect Foundation provides support to parents, of children with hearing impairment,
creates awareness and provides guidance in the areas of
early detection,
early intervention,
audiological management,
hearing aids fitting,
cochlear implants,
auditory verbal therapy
and rehabilitation into mainstream society.

Appeal

VConnect Foundation's mission and vision are to mainstream children with hearing loss by providing hope and empowerment to their parents and primary caregivers and co-creating an ecosystem that fosters a culture of inclusiveness. We strive to achieve our purpose through 4 key focus areas:

1. Education in various areas to integrate children into mainstream schools successfully by conducting various programs as follows:
a) Shiksha Series - is based on different aspects of Academics & Education where webinars are conducted and covers a range of topics on the different aspects of education, academics and life skills, etc
b) Educational Theme Based Activities – These activities are related to festivals, special occasions and national holidays, done through whatsapp and gives families an opportunity to provide new vocabulary and rich language to their children by exploring new innovative ideas with their children and create something special with them.
c) Music & Singing – sessions for children are conducted by trained Music teachers every week for children
d) AVT Home Program – teaching children to listen and speak through Auditory Verbal Therapy, (an approach used all over the world) is being conducted with recorded modules and monthly live sessions.
e) English Proficiency – We conduct online English proficiency classes for the children and caregivers

2. Mental Health program nurtures the mental health of caregivers and children.
a) Parent Peer Support Sessions conducted twice a month for caregivers - These workshops focus on the mental health of parents and caregivers of children with hearing loss.
b) Teenager Support Sessions - These sessions are conducted by young adults under the guidance of the Mental Health team.

3. Knowledge Hub where dissemination of knowledge to caregivers and professionals for the holistic development of the child is created and shared through:
a) Vidya Series - Youtube videos of workshops conducted are shared to disseminate knowledge to parents and caregivers regarding their child’s holistic development once a month.
b) Resource Center – resources are created and shared a host of resources to educate parents on different aspects of their child’s development

4. Advocacy where we advocate the need for an inclusive ecosystem through:
a) Awareness about mandating New Born Hearing Screening – we have worked closely with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to make Universal New Born Hearing Screening (UNBHS) - a mandate in the BMC hospitals
b) Hamare Adhikar / Our Rights – workshops on rights, benefits, concessions that families can avail in education, income tax and the different travel concessions. Right to Education, how to make a disability certificate, how to make the UDID card, where can one go and how can one avail of these services, this is all shared with the families in the different workshops conducted.

Medical Relief: support towards hearing devices like hearing aids and cochlear implants are disbursed to deserving families.
