Beneficiary Description | Myna’s Sponsor A Girl program helps us with our mission by giving a girl access to a healthy and dignified menstrual management. Through our Sponsor A Girl events, we have reached out to over 1100 girls providing them training on menstrual hygiene management, and a hygiene kit for 3 months (6 packets of sanitary pads, 2 underwears, soap & shampoo, period tracker). Almost half of the girls we sponsored used to use either cloth, or use cloth along with pads.
We identified girls for the program after a detailed survey. As a result 73% of girls we sponsored have more than 4 members in their families, and most of those families having only one earning member with an income between 5000 to 10,000.

Impact | Increased acceptance by girls that menstruation is normal and healthy. Improved understanding and attitudes by girls on the basics of menstruation and its importance as an indicator of a healthy reproductive system. This also includes a reduction in negative social norms and taboos surrounding menstruation at the societal level.
Increased girls’ participation and attendance during her years of education. Young girls have increased participation and engagement in the classroom due to increased confidence in the reliability of their menstrual products. Improved product security may enhance girls’ abilities to engage with teachers and peers in classroom activities by reducing fears about blood stains on their clothing. There may also be a reduction in girls’ menstrual-related absenteeism from school.
