Annually, over 70,000 patients are treated at the Centre in Mumbai and the hospital supports the treatment of majority of these patients (over 60% of patients are treated either completely free or at highly subsidized cost). More than 80% of these patients come from outside Mumbai and have to stay here for long periods (6-12 months) to undergo cancer therapy. Besides subsidized fees, we also support our patients in terms of accommodation (for those coming for treatment from outside Mumbai) and provide nutritional/ food support.
The funds raised through the Tata Mumbai Marathon will be used to support treatment costs of patients belonging to the economically weaker sections of society who are unable to afford even the subsidized cost of treatment. The donations will also help provide equipments essential in the treatment of patients at the hospital.
