This quote resonates deeply with me. After spending over 15 years in strategy and operations consulting, I realized that true change comes when we empower young people with the tools to build their futures. That’s why I chose to work with Magic Bus, an organization that believes in the transformative power of education and skills to break the cycle of poverty for millions of children and youth across India.
As I gear up for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025, this run is not just about the race day event — it’s an opportunity to support the transformation of young lives. I am running to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to stay in school, develop essential skills, and step confidently into the future they deserve.

The Problem:

- In India, while nearly 100% of children are enrolled in school by grade 5, only 78% manage to complete grade 10.
- 1 in 4 adolescents aged 14-18 cannot read basic text.
- 60% of young people lack crucial skills like analytical thinking, creativity, resilience, flexibility, agility, motivation, self-awareness, and curiosity—skills that are essential for success in the workforce.
- Education systems worldwide, including India’s, are recognizing the urgent need to integrate life skills alongside academic learning.
About Magic Bus:

Magic Bus India Foundation is one of the top five NGOs in India working in the fields of education and skilling. With a national footprint, Magic Bus equips adolescents and youth with life skills and employability training, helping them stay in school, develop essential life and employability skills, and secure dignified jobs.
India’s National Education Policy 2020 stresses the importance of equipping children with higher-order thinking skills and socio-emotional learning. According to the World Economic Forum, critical thinking and problem-solving are the top skills employers expect to grow in prominence over the next five years.
Our comprehensive Childhood to Livelihood approach supports young people as they overcome obstacles and build meaningful futures. We engage with their ecosystems—parents, peers, community members, and local institutions—creating a strong support network. This is achieved through two core programs: the Adolescent Programme and the Livelihood Programme.
Since 1999, Magic Bus has impacted over 3 million adolescents and 371,406 youth. Our goal is to expand this reach, positively transforming the lives of 6 million adolescents and 500,000 youth over the next five years.
