About Me
Hi, I’m Avijit—a MARCOM professional with experience across both corporate and nonprofit sectors for the last 17 years, as well as a marathoner, photography enthusiast, and avid traveller. My passion for animal welfare started in childhood, and for the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of being closely connected with Kalote Animal Trust. I live in Mumbai with my partner and our 11 adopted cats, and this campaign is my way of making a difference in the lives of our four-legged friends at Kalote and its neighbourhood.
Appeal
Did you know there are around 35 million stray dogs in India? And the numbers are growing every minute. While dedicated feeders, rescuers, and animal welfare organizations work tirelessly, it’s nearly impossible for them to reach and care for every stray. As a result, countless dogs fall prey to poisoning, territory fights, untreated injuries, and disease. Without a controlled population, more dogs are left struggling to survive, often facing daily threats that could be prevented with humane interventions.
This is where animal birth control programs become crucial. By ensuring these homeless dogs are sterilized, we can prevent the cycle of suffering that arises from unchecked growth.
This year, I’m committed to continuing my support for Kalote Animal Shelter and their incredible work in creating a safer, kinder world for all animals.
Kalote Animal Trust is dedicated to this mission, conducting large-scale sterilization camps to humanely reduce the stray dog population and eradicate rabies across Kalote Mokashi, Khopoli, Karjat, and other areas on the outskirts of Mumbai. Through these programs, they’re creating a future where strays aren’t forced to fight for resources, face neglect, or endure avoidable suffering—making our communities safer for everyone.
Kalote Animal Trust is also a sanctuary for over 600 rescued animals, each with a story of resilience. From dogs and cats to cows, buffaloes, goats, pigs, sheep, donkeys, horses, and birds, they’ve found a place to heal, grow, and remind us of the profound impact compassion can have.
