About Me

I, Neerja Bhutani, an educator with almost two decades of association with the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA)—a journey that has deeply shaped my belief in the power of informed and responsible citizenship.
For me, schools are not just spaces for academic learning; they are where values are lived, habits are formed, and future citizens are shaped. Through my work with CMCA, I have had the privilege of guiding young minds to develop a sense of ownership towards their community, respect for democratic principles, and a commitment to sustainability.
CMCA works to nurture informed, empathetic, and responsible citizens who understand that meaningful change begins with awareness and is sustained through action. This cause is deeply personal to me, which is why I am running this marathon—to support civic education that empowers children to engage with society thoughtfully and responsibly.

This Tata Mumbai Marathon I’m running/participating for that “what if.”
Through CMCA’s My Library for a Better Me, children in government schools are discovering stories that spark imagination, confidence, and kindness. My run hopes to bring that smile to around 7000+ faces.
