I have been involved as a volunteer with Isha Vidhya, since 2008 and have seen the impact of quality education in the rural children. Isha Vidhya schools continue to deliver with 100% results in Class 10, 11 & 12 Board exams year on year. The bright and joyful faces of the children in these schools have got me back to Mumbai Marathon year after year. In these unprecedented times, these children need to be supported more than ever. I would like to do everything possible to ensure they are able to continue their education. A little bit of effort from us can make a huge difference to the lives of these children. I look forward to Mumbai Marathon every year, as I started running for Isha Vidhya (www.ishavidhya.org), that provides rural education.
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, more so for these children in rural India. They need support now more than ever, to just continue their education
The economic and digital divide is starkly visible now, with many of these children having little or no access to data and smart phones. The schools continue to incur operating expenses - towards salaries of staff and teachers, infrastructure costs to enable teachers to record their video lessons, and support additional students with scholarships.
Isha Vidhya currently runs 10 schools in Tamilnadu(TN) & Andhra Pradesh(AP), with 8,500 children (49% girls), 60% supported through scholarships. Isha is also carrying out critical interventions through GSSP (Govt School Support Program) in 26 rural government schools, benefiting over 8,000 students.
Isha Vidhya students have been doing remarkably well in their board exams with 100% pass results every year and stupendous performance by a few. Grateful for any support you can extend to help these children. You can sponsor a child's tuition fee for one year at INR 18,000 p.a. or contribute any other amount, that will help the schools continue to support the education of these children.
