Sustainable beekeeping is what India's smallholders need. With farms growing smaller and with 86% of our farmers being small and marginal farmers...this intervention has tremendous scope for small farmers in Adivasi communities.
I am Sujana and have worked in the development sector across India for close to 25 years now.
Appeal
I have seen first hand the impact that beekeeping with indigenous bees can have for small farmers in Adivasi communities. An increase in yields for most fruits, vegetables, oilseeds and pulses due to better pollination. This allows them to sell the surplus yields and get a cash income for their households.
Our interventions include multiple ways to enhance incomes - kitchen gardens, micro -entrepreneurship opportunities in rural communities...
