Joanne’s Story
My time at Jai Vakeel has completely reshaped how I view the word - inclusion. Before stepping onto the Jai Vakeel campus, I had never even tried to connect with someone with an intellectual disability. And it's only through these interactions, that my perception changed and my belief in building a more inclusive world strengthened. A world - that includes ALL and not just a few.

Today, inclusion isn’t just a mission statement to me—it’s a need to challenge the current status quo and create a world where everyone feels accepted, loved and valued.

Callie's Story
For Callie, Jai Vakeel Foundation has been more than a workplace; it’s been a lesson in how empathy and action can drive meaningful change. Coming into the role with little knowledge about intellectual disability, she quickly realised the extent of societal barriers—both seen and unseen. But what inspires her most are the deeply personal moments, like a little boy’s unfiltered joy when running up to her for a hug. These experiences have fueled her belief in the shared responsibility we all hold to make inclusion a reality. For her, supporting Jai Vakeel means ensuring a future where no one’s abilities are underestimated, and everyone is given the chance to thrive.

One in every 50 Indians—over 28 million people—have an Intellectual Disability (ID). Despite this significant number, individuals with ID face stigma, limited access to resources, and barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
