About Me
Hi this Ojasvi, I am passionate about topics such as nutrition, mental health, human rights and women empowerment.
Appeal
SNEHA (Society for Nutrition Education and Health Action) is a non-profit organization that has been working for the past 25 years to improve the health, nutrition, and safety of women, children, and adolescents living in the slum communities of Mumbai and nearby regions.
SNEHA was founded by neonatologist Dr. Armida Fernandez, who, while treating vulnerable infants and mothers from slum settlements, encountered suffering, violence, and death at a level that deeply impacted her. Refusing to accept the status quo, she felt compelled to do more for marginalized communities. It was with this clarity of purpose that SNEHA was born.
SNEHA follows a continuum of care (RMNCH+A) approach, working with women and children from birth to adulthood to break the intergenerational cycle of poor health. Addressing gender-based inequities is a core focus across all of SNEHA's programs.
SNEHA’s unique model involves not only working directly with vulnerable communities but also strengthening public systems to improve healthcare delivery and address gender-based violence. The organization works toward creating evidence-based models of health intervention to eventually inform policy.
Between 2016 and 2024, SNEHA directly impacted over 406,000 women, children, and healthcare workers, and indirectly reached a population of over 1.68 million in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and other parts of Maharashtra.
SNEHA echoes WHO's definition of health: “Health is a state of complete mental, social, and physical well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
I am creating this fundraiser to support SNEHA’s incredible work and invite you to join me in empowering their mission of ‘Raising Health for All.’
