About Me

Hello, I am Rahil Thakkar, proudly working with Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal (SSM), an organization established in 1959 and dedicated to the holistic development of rural communities. At SSM, our mission is to foster educated, prosperous, and sustainable communities through impactful interventions in Education, Skill & Livelihood, Agriculture, and Environmental Conservation.

What sets SSM apart is our deep-rooted commitment to preserving and enriching rural culture while driving progress in vital areas such as education and agriculture. Our journey began humbly with a small school amidst a couple of huts. Today, our expansive 200-acre campus, nestled in the breathtaking Balaghat Hills and along the serene Manjira River in Sagroli village (Dist. Nanded), serves as a hub of transformation at the crossroads of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Karnataka.

As an MBA student at MKES IMSR, I bring my passion for social impact and academic expertise to drive meaningful change. I am excited to lead this fundraiser in collaboration with United Way to support the hostel and continue SSM’s mission of building brighter futures for children and families in rural India.

Appeal

At Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal (SSM), we are dedicated to providing children with a safe, nurturing environment where they can grow, learn, and achieve their full potential. However, the facilities at our Sagroli Boys and Girls Hostels are in urgent need of upgrades to ensure that the children’s basic needs for safety, and education are fully met.

Boys Hostel: Addressing Critical Needs
The Boys Hostel currently faces inadequate bed facilities and insufficient study tables, limiting the children’s ability to rest and focus on their studies effectively. In addition, during the monsoon season, we face the challenge of maintaining a hot water boiler for the children’s comfort. However, due to the rain, the boiler cannot be used as it is exposed to the weather. To solve this, we are planning to build a roof to protect the boiler, ensuring that the children can access hot water even in the rainy season.

Girls Hostel: Redevelopment for Better Living and Learning
The Girls Hostel also requires urgent redevelopment. Our vision is to enhance the living conditions by improving lighting, study facilities, and the overall shelter. This would create a more comfortable and conducive environment for the girls to study, rest, and grow. Moreover, we plan to add shelter to protect the hot water boiler from the elements, so the girls can continue to enjoy the same comforts as the boys.

These improvements are vital for the well-being and development of the children at both hostels. The Boys Hostel needs better infrastructure for study and rest, while the Girls Hostel requires a full redevelopment to ensure that it meets the children’s needs for a safe and conducive living space.
