About Me

Hello, I’m Nihar Mehta, and I’m participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 to support the empowerment of girls and young women in India through Maitrayana Charity Foundation. My goal is to help create a world where more girls and women can actively participate in outdoor activities and sports, free from social stigma, criticism, or discrimination. Every girl deserves the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports, feel empowered, and be treated equally to boys.

Appeal

I’m raising funds for Maitrayana because I believe there is a significant gender gap and discrimination in many areas of society, including sports. Girls need to be encouraged from a young age to pursue sports, and parents should support their daughters just as much as they do their sons. Most importantly, girls deserve to know that there’s a world beyond the kitchen and sewing.

This mindset must change—not only at the grassroots level but also within the systems that set pay scales and allocate resources for women in sports. There is still a clear disparity in the support and recognition given to female athletes. While progress has been made, there is still a long way to go.

Your support can make a huge difference in the lives of many girls, helping to break down these barriers and create a more equal playing field for them.
