Appeal
On behalf of Friends of Max (FOM), I request your financial assistance to support FOM's very successful and far reaching support initiatives like Project Shiksha and At No Cost Diagnostic and Monitoring services to patients and their families living with cancer and on lifelong medication.
FOM, a Registered Charitable Trust, for the last 21 years, has been a beacon of hope for individuals diagnosed with and on lifelong treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) & Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST), two rare cancers that afflict thousands across India.
It is the support arm of The Max Foundation, (an NGO based in Seattle, USA) in India, with its office located in Worli, Mumbai.
Through its vast network of City Chapter Leaders, patients, caregivers and physicians, FOM is committed to providing the much needed informational, emotional and financial support to these patients and their caregivers.
As FOM Trustee and Joint Secretary, I have closely been associated with the working of the NGO, and seen from close quarters, in India, where access to healthcare resources is often limited, our work is essential. With over 18,000 patients relying on us, the majority hailing from lower socio-economic backgrounds, the need for the kind of support that we provides has never been more pressing. Many of these individuals face not only the physical challenges of their illnesses but also the daunting burden of financial strain and emotional distress.
Through our very successful and far reaching support initiatives like Project Shiksha and At No Cost Diagnostic and Monitoring services we provide to our patients, we are able to reach out to the most underserved patients in 29 aspirational districts (India’s most underdeveloped districts, identified by the Government of India to improve quality of life).
