About Me
Post my retirement from the Government of India service, as the Director of Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, I have been associated very closely with this NGO, ADHAR, and have joined hands to assist the Trustees of ADHAR in achieving their noble objective.
Incidentally, the Chairman and Trustees of ADHAR have allowed me to serve ADHAR as one of the Trustees, and this responsibility has helped me understand the dying needs that this cause warrants to serve the special adults who are taken care for life at ADHAR.
Appeal
Bring Smiles and Empower Lives- Support ADHAR’s Lifelong Care for Special Adults
For 30 remarkable years, the Association of Parents of Mentally Retarded Children (ADHAR), an NGO has remained and continues to be a beacon of hope and aspiration for intellectually challenged special adults and their parents and caregivers. Even during the worst of times of the COVID-19 pandemic when the world had to shut down, ADHAR remained steadfast in continuing to serve their special adults.
Founded in 1994 by the visionary sociologist Mr. Madhavrao Gore, ADHAR has created a haven of love and care - with the unwavering support of caring parents- for their inmates making ADHAR a home away from home for them. With nurturing homes in Badlapur, Nashik, and a new branch in Satara, ADHAR provides lifelong support to over 350 special individuals, fostering a vibrant community where they thrive under the guidance of expert psychologists, therapists, and caregivers.
ADHAR annually impacts around 2,000 lives across 18 states, creating over 250 jobs in rural areas. Operating solely on donations from benevolent individuals, companies, and corporates and most importantly parents’ contributions, with no government aid, ADHAR faces an ever-increasing gap between rising costs and available resources to service their special adults residing at ADHAR. With the age of the parents increasing, despite the best efforts of the Trustees of ADHAR, the majority of who are the parents of special adults residing at ADHAR, the increasing gap widens as days pass by as the incomes of parents diminish with increasing age.
It is here that benevolent donors Yan play a pivotal role by supporting ADHAR to bridge this gap and ensure that ADHAR continues to offer high-quality care for the special adults residing at ADHAR. Together, let’s ensure they live a life of dignity and their lives are surrounded by care and warmth.
Through this noble platform of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025, I appeal to all benevolent donors to contribute to the noble cause of ADHAR by donating whatever you can. All donations are eligible for an 80G deduction under the Income Tax Act.
Join us in transforming lives and creating a legacy of compassion. Together, we can make a difference.
