About Me

Hi, I’m Mukesh Thakur. At just 7 years old, I was diagnosed with leukemia. My mother, a vegetable vendor, and my brothers working cleaning jobs, managed my treatment despite our financial struggles. My father, an alcoholic, wasn’t there to help.

Amid our despair, CanKids…KidsCan stepped in, offering us hope and support. Thanks to them and my family’s determination, I’m now 22 and completely cured.

Today, I work with CanKids, raising funds to support children battling cancer, just like I once did. I’ve shown that life after cancer is full of possibilities—I’ve cycled from Delhi to Agra and back, proving childhood cancer is curable.

This year, I’m proud to participate in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 alongside 10 other cancer survivors. Together, we’re raising funds to support children fighting cancer and spreading the message that childhood cancer is curable.

Beyond work, I run a YouTube channel, care for 35 dogs on my farm, and share my story to inspire others. I urge you to join me in this mission. Together, we can make a difference.

Did you know that if a child has cancer in a high income country, their chances of survival are 80%. But in India, it is 35%. But it doesn't have to be that way. Founded in 2004 by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKidsKidsCan - The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer In India aims to change that.

CanKids partners with hospitals, medical professionals, and state governments to move India towards 100% access2care & higher survival rates for children with cancer. They enable best standards of treatment, care and support across 141 partner centers in 53 cities and 22 states of India. Catering to primarily underprivileged families, CanKids serves the underserved, ensuring avoidance of financial hardship.

CanKids increases survival rates by driving early detection, diagnosis & referral & partnering with the government and stakeholders to pioneer online support and care reaching remote corners of India.
