Bringing Comfort to Patients with Cancer and other Life-Limiting Illnesses
Romila Palliative Care invites you to join our campaign in support of patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Did you know? In India, less than 1% of the population has access to pain relief and palliative care, and fewer than 2% of patients who need opioids for cancer, major trauma, and surgeries have access to them. Romila Palliative Care is proud to be part of the growing movement to change this.
The project was started by SNEHA founder Dr. Armida Fernandez and her husband, Dr. Rui Fernandez, after the loss of their only child, Romila, to cancer. Since then, we’ve been dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
In collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), SNEHA has established a model palliative care outpatient clinic. This first-of-its-kind clinic aims to provide inclusive and patient-centered care to those in need.
Since 2017, we've provided pain relief and counselling to 2,965 patients and their caregivers through 12,150 home visits, with a mission to improve the quality of life for patients through compassionate care and effective symptom management.
Help support our work by contributing to home care visits that help relieve pain for our patients. As most of our patients are bed-ridden or unable to travel, our team visits them in their homes. A typical home visit includes the medical team of doctor and/or a nurse; in addition where psycho-social counseling is required, the counselor also visits the patient. Each visit costs approximately Rs. 4,400 including the transportation cost.
Your support would bring pain relief, solace, and companionship to patients and families during their most challenging moments.
