About Me

I am V. Ramachandran (a.k.a. Ram), a Company Secretary by profession and a runner by passion, having been running since last 25 years. Since last 14 years i am also one of the founder member of Mumbai Road Runners, a running community which has brought together runners from different fields and organizing various activities for runners over the years. This year i.e. TMM 2025 I am running for ACT, Animedh Charitable Trust, hoping to buttress their efforts in providing benefits to the marginalized section of the society and furthering their projects.

Appeal

I have been a runner since last 25 years or so and running SCMM/ TMM since the 2nd edition onwards. Having benefitted immensely from running, i would like to give back to society. I am running the half marathon in Tata Mumbai Marathon in 2025 and am raising funds for Animedh Charitable Trust (ACT), a NGO which proposes to change the lives of children, youth,  women & vulnerable communities.

In India, women and children constitute more than 70% of the total population. But they remain marginalized, poor and socially excluded, especially in the weaker sections of our society. ACT is determined to reverse this social inequity.

They have various ongoing projects such as Project Saksham which gives advanced tailoring and garment construction skills training to facilitate transition of underprivileged women to entrepreneurs or major livelihood earners. Project Donna focuses on creating income generation opportunities through stitching, handwork & embroidery for women trained in tailoring skills. 

Project Samruddhi aims to develop, train & empower Adivasi women of the neglected border villages between Maharashtra and Gujarat in Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Project WASH is a global project to help people access to safe water and sanitation through affordable financing such as small loans.

ACT is a registered NGO having tax exemptions under section 80G and also FCRA approval in place. Your donation will enable you to tax deduction under the section 80G  of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
