About the project:
The Skilling Training and Cybersecurity Awareness Across Low-Income Communities project by United Way Mumbai is designed to empower underserved populations through targeted interventions in both employment readiness and digital safety. The skilling component of the project is aligned with the objectives of PMKVY and Skill India, with courses accredited by NASD, NSDC, and relevant sector skill councils. The focus is on providing youth with practical skills in logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management, increasing their employability in these fast-growing sectors.

In parallel, the cybersecurity awareness component addresses the rising threat of online fraud and cybercrime, particularly among vulnerable groups. The program educates women, youth, and elderly individuals about the fundamentals of cybersecurity, safe online practices, digital financial tools, and protection against phishing, identity theft, and financial scams. This dual approach ensures that participants not only gain job-ready skills but also the digital literacy necessary to safely navigate the online world.

Job Overview:
The Outreach Worker cum Trainer will be responsible for conducting cybersecurity and digital literacy trainings for targeted groups, including women, youth, and elderly individuals in the community. This role requires engaging with beneficiaries, delivering training sessions, documentation and ensuring
the successful implementation of the program in the assigned locations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cybersecurity and digital literacy training for beneficiaries, focusing on protecting themselves from online threats like phishing, identity theft, and fraud.
  • Deliver sessions on safe online banking, digital financial tools, and overall internet safety.
  • Provide post-training support to ensure the retention and application of knowledge among participants.
  • Maintain detailed attendance, pre-tests, post-tests, feedback forms and progress records for all participants.
  • Assist in preparing training materials, presentations, and other resources to be used during the sessions.
  • Work closely with external agencies, peer educators and community leaders to mobilize participants and organize training events.
  • Monitor and evaluate the training activities, providing real-time data and progress reports to the project lead.
  • Conduct follow-up sessions and support beneficiaries in applying the skills learned in their daily digital activities.
  • Report daily and weekly progress to the Project Officer, including challenges faced and feedback from participants.
  • Carry out any additional tasks assigned by United Way Mumbai (UWM) as required.
Profile Requisites
  • Graduate in Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of prior experience in conducting community-based trainings or workshops is preferred.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and digital literacy.
  • Comfortable with community outreach and mobilization.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in local languages and basic English skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
Remuneration - Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the consultancy fees range is 26000 to 30000 per month
