Job Overview: The Deputy Manager will be responsible to assist program manager in coordination and implementation of all the environment-related projects, with special focus on pollution management related projects (projects including; Mission Mangroves, Clean shores, projects for the promotion of waste management and cleanliness, etc.)
Job Responsibilities:
- To design, innovate,
facilitate and execute environment projects, campaigns and corporate employee
engagement activities.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with
schools, colleges, community groups, corporates, government agencies,
NGOs, and other stakeholders for mass awareness events and volunteer
mobilization.
- Manage partnerships with key internal and
external stakeholders, including government bodies (e.g., respective
municipal corporations, pollution control boards, forest departments,
etc.), academic institutions, NGOs, and citizens’ groups as well as other
suitable national and international forums for the smooth execution of
projects and to further UWM’s vision for environmental conservation.
- Effective
communication and partnership development/management with various program
stakeholders / partners for successful implementation of the project
- To work on development
and adoption of the Monitoring and Evaluation framework for the projects.
- To keep doing
continuous research on the issues addressed by United Way Mumbai and help
with relevant inputs for development, conceptualization, and execution of
the projects.
- To develop suitable IEC materials
to complement the project theme i.e. Pollution management, promotion of waste
management practices to compliment the educational activities under the project,
water body pollution management, air pollution management, etc.
- Writing
reports, presentations, mailers, advisories on different environmental
themes, donor reports, social media posts, awareness collaterals, concept
notes, proposals, etc.
- Management, training and mentoring of the project teams
- Oversee the planning, execution, and documentation of environmental
project activities, ensuring their timely and effective completion. Manage
budgeting, financial reconciliation, and reporting of project activities. Extensive field work in the outskirts of
Mumbai and other project locations across India for monitoring visits, project
execution, etc. as per the needs of the project
- Represent the organization at external
meetings, workshops, and conferences related to pollution management.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental
regulations and international best practices in pollution management.
Profile Requisites:
- Postgraduate in Environment Science/ Environmental Engineering,or having studies in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Policy or Management,
Natural Resource Management or any other equivalent degree. Candidate with
prior experience in Pollution/waste management sector would be preferred.
- At least 5 to 6 years of
experience in managing and executing projects in the field of environment
- A dynamic and
versatile person who can easily connect and effectively work with internal
and external stakeholders of the project
- Good knowledge on the
various environmental issues and related interventions
- Excellent MS office
skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Adequate knowledge and
understanding about the field of Pollution/waste management and be able to
provide relevant inputs for successful execution of the project activities
- Excellent written and
oral communication skills
- Must be proficient in
communicating in English and Hindi (fluency in Marathi will be an added
advantage)
- Candidate must be a
team player and should be willing to travel in and around Mumbai and other
project location across India for implementing program activities.

Remuneration: Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the salary range is 8 to 12 LPA.
