Job Overview: 

Overview: The project lead will be responsible for coordinating and implementing project related activities in Mangaluru. The lead will also be responsible for coordinating closely with our local technical partners for the project as well as liaise actively with the concerned government officials. We are looking for someone who is passionate for the cause of curing waterbody pollution and increase awareness within the city on waste management and has strong program management skills.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Implement projects including; conducting classroom sessions, workshops with the schools and in the community, training communities for effective waste management, conducting innovative educational awareness activities, etc. through collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • To understand the project objectives, deliverables and create the execution plan for the project under the guidance of the Project Manager
  • Create a specific plan for the execution of the project on quarterly basis in alignment with the overall project timelines.
  • To work closely with UWM’s technical partner in Mangaluru for smooth implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.
  • To develop and nurture strong relations and collaborations with the relevant stakeholders such as; Municipal Solid Waste Management Department, Education Department, NSS, NGOs, community members, training agency, etc. for successful implementation of the project.
  • To develop and deliver the educational sessions on the theme of Marine pollution among the school/ college students
  • To document the impact of various project activities on a regular basis and compile the narrative project update reports as well as financial utilisation reports on a regular basis.
  • To mobilize various community-level stakeholders, thus ensuring active community participation in various interventions of the project
  • Identify sector expert organizations/ agencies and firm up partnerships with relevant stakeholders (from government, private agencies, NGOs, etc.) for the execution of the project components.
  • To develop suitable IEC materials to complement the project theme i.e. promotion of waste management practices to compliment the educational activities under the project.

Profile Requisites:

  • Masters in Social Work, Environmental Science or any other equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of work experience, especially in project design, on-ground project implementation, etc. Any background or experience working in the field of livelihood, education, or working with youth will be preferred.
  • Excellent MS office skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Ability to interact and connect effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Efficient in community outreach and mobilization skills
  • Adequate knowledge and understanding about the field of waste management and be able to provide relevant inputs for successful execution of the project activities
  • Must be efficient in communicating in English, Hindi and local language of Mangaluru both written and oral communication.
  • Develop/ possess detailed knowledge of the project causes and be able to guide the project team and give inputs to all the project partners.
  • Candidate must be a team player and should be willing to travel extensively in and around Mangaluru for coordinating program activities.
  • Financial reconciliation and reporting of the project activities

Remuneration: INR 60,000 - 65,000 per month
