My name is Nancy/Priya. I am from Rai Bareli Utter Pradesh and am a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer survivor. I will be running the Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run to raise funds to support children with cancer for CanKids KidsCan, The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer In India. And need your help to achieve the same.
I belong to a poor family. My father is a Farmer and my mother is a house maker. I got sick in March, 2010 and didn’t got better even after medication. My parents took me to a nearby private hospital then a doctor there advised you to take me to King George Medical University in Lucknow. After some tests I was diagnosed with throat cancer Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was very shocking and upsetting news for my family. We shared this with our relatives, they advised to not to go for treatment as we were financially challenged and the disease cannot be cured.
But my parents did not pay attention to all these. And decided to get me treated. After which my parents sold the few valuable things in the house. Still, he could not collect that much money and hence he had to sell his valuable land. CanKids also helped me a lot during the treatment. We received medical support, tests done, travel support and many more that would come as financial of other kind of challenge. I did all this, by the grace of God and the hard work of all the doctors, I completely recovered in March 2011.
After which I resumed my studies properly and I got 91% in 10th and passed 12th with 81% and I am currently preparing for NEET.
I am proud to share that I am participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) in the dream run category with 19 other cancer survivors, like me and our goal extends beyond personal achievements. We are dedicated to raising funds to support children fighting cancer, and this year, I have set a target of 31000 Rs.
I am reaching out to friends, family, and colleagues, urging them to contribute whatever they can to this cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, will play a crucial role in saving the lives of children battling cancer. Your support is not just a donation it's a step towards saving a child's life.
Join me in this journey, contribute to the cause, and let's collectively work towards a world where quality healthcare is accessible to brave young souls fighting cancer. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those in need. Thank you for your support!
