About Programs

For a city like Mumbai, that never sleeps and is always on its toes, the infrastructure & provision of basic services remain a challenge, within and without a crisis. Episodes like 25th July, 2005 floods or the 11th July, 2006 blasts are an added concern for the city’s civic issues and led us to establish the United Way Mumbai helpline.

United Way Mumbai Helpline has designed several critical projects which have the capacity to create a measurable and wide impact on a large cross section of Mumbai’s population. These projects would build the capacity of the citizen to think on their own and empower them by providing the information, resources, inspiration and direction required to address issues they feel strongly about. This will lead to communities caring for their own locality, their city and for the nation at large.

Our programs are intended to

  • Help improve the civic issues in the city.
  • Facilitate a disaster preparedness plan on a ward by ward basis.
  • Improve community participation.
  • Better coordination between various stakeholders.
  • Bring in the much needed professional approach in civil society efforts.

With our small, yet persistent initiatives, we know we have surely made a difference! See how YOU can.
