Swa se bane des!
India lives in her villages and the only thing that’s holding them back is lack of opportunities that we urban folk take for granted. One of the simplest thing is access to a toilet, a basic necessity for us and a rare luxury for them. It is pitiable how our villagers walk for miles to defecate in the open and die of snake or scorpion bites. My heart goes out to women who venture out only during wee hours or post sunset to avoid being embarrassed and the sad part is…they have lived like this for generations and their future generations will continue living like this unless you and me do something about it.
I’m standing by Swades Foundation, which is working towards empowering 1 million Rural Indians every 5 years. Founded by Ronnie & Zarina Screwvala, Swades has a unique 360 degree model which focuses on 5 verticals – Agriculture & Livelihood, Community Mobilistaion, Education, Health & Nutrition and Water & Sanitation. One of their key focus areas is building personal toilets for every household in their geography, Swades has built 2209 personal toilets till date and your contribution to Swades will be used towards building a total of 40,000 personal toilets in 5 years.
I implore you to dig deep and donate generously for this cause.
Swa se bane hum, Swa se bane tum….Swa se bane des….Aao milkar banayein behtar aur Swachh Swades!
